I have not experienced any of the yoga methods that I have been told about in the past, so some of these things can be hard to put into words.
I think what makes the most sense for me to practice is the method of the “I-am-here-to-help-you” pose, but I don’t know that I can ever do that. The other options are all pretty similar to that, so I don’t think I can do any of that, either.
I think the method of the I-am-here-to-help-you pose and the methods of the slow-mo poses are important methods of yoga that give you a lot of space to breathe and relax. It’s not a bad idea to learn to do those poses, if that’s what you want to do. But if you can’t do them, you probably shouldn’t be going to a class.
I’ve heard that the slower the flow of the pose, the more space is given to breathe.
I think the main thing is that it makes the poses more “physical.” I think it also helps to open the body and relax the mind, which is nice. It helps you stretch the hamstrings and muscles and loosen up the joints.
