This is one of those things that comes up a lot when we are talking about self-awareness. It is often used in terms of how we are viewed by others and how we think we should act. People tend to think that they “know” themselves and are thus the best judge and keeper of their actions. This is not necessarily true. We are not the ones who can judge ourselves. We are not the ones who can say “no” to ourselves.

It’s a really difficult concept to grasp because self-awareness is really a very fluid thing. We are constantly assessing ourselves and the things that we have done, things that we’ve said, and all other aspects of our lives. We don’t act out of fear, we act out of self-awareness. We don’t want to act out of fear, we want to act out of self-awareness.
